Indigenous content in development education (Rhiannon Careri and Brooke Colman) Bilingual

oin us for an engaging workshop exploring how Indigenous knowledge and perspectives can be better integrated into development studies! This interactive session will create a space for students to share their experiences, challenges, and ideas about decolonizing knowledge in our field. What counts and who tells? (Marie-Julie Chaput) Bilingual

In this participatory workshop, we will take the time to question our measurement and success indicators, as well as our personal values. Then, we will reflect on the people who write History and how our own experiences interfere with our vision and our approaches to international development. Ultimately, through sharing, questions and exercises, we will forge links between international development, sustainable development and personal development. Workshop led by Marie-Julie CHAPUT, Belgian-Canadian consultant and development coach, holder of a master’s degree in development economics and a bachelor’s degree in international business.

Out of the Norm and into the Uncomfortable (ADEV - Nana Afia Aku Ofori-Yentumi & Ruby Dagher)

- Anglais

This workshop is intended to help students learn about the weaknesses and contradictions in how we understand governance, conflict and peace. Through hands-on activities, students will understand the power of discourse, erasure, and the monopoly of expertise on how governance, peace, and security are understood, and develop mechanisms to integrate a more complex understanding of such situations.

Decolonizing Diversity and Honouring Indigenous Sovereignty (RISE - Racialized and Indigenous student center) - Anglais

RISE will be presenting on how to amplify and support local communities in their assertions of sovereignty and self-determination, when healing and recovering from the detrimental impacts of settler-colonial and neoliberal development projects on Indigenous lands across the world.
